But just like the Democrat bill, once Canada passed single payer in 1964 it took nearly 6 years for it to implemented in all the providences.

I noticed that you didn't address the part about her age. My parents did things when I was 5 or 6 that I would not do because of moral differences. Why would you take something her parents did when she was 5 or 6 as her condoning socialized medicine?

Are you really that desperate to discredit her that you will hold her accountable for the things her parents did when she was a toddler?

Actually if you read the actual article HERE you would find out that she visited Canada for healthcare in the 60's before Canada had universal healthcare, she was also 5 or 6 years old.

I am not a huge fan of Sarah Palin's but I do love the way you Olbermannites jump on any chance to try and smear her image. Why do you find her such a threat?

Don't you realize that if you ignored her she would probably go away? Only the mass media think she is a viable candidate for any office, actual republican voters I talk to say they would not vote for her.

The Militia Act of 1792 provided, in part:
That each and every free able-bodied white male citizen of the respective States, resident therein, who is or shall be of age of eighteen years, and under the age of forty-five years (except as is herein after excepted) shall severally and respectively be enrolled in the militia, ... every citizen, so enrolled and notified, shall, within six months thereafter, provide himself with a good musket or firelock....

So, in 1792, Congress considered that all white male citizens had the right to own guns! Some of these citizens couldn't even vote, but they had the right (and mandated responsibility) to their guns!

With the number of Democrat votes in both the House and the Senate, there is no reason for the Democrats to try to blame any losses on the Republicans. This may be why President Obama was quoted in August as saying "I don't want the folks who created this mess to do a lot of talking" in regards to suggestions from opposition groups! The fact that the whole idea has become extremely unpopular with the American people probably has more to do with any problems this bill will have than anything the Republicans could do in the House or the Senate.

Things are pretty close now though! The next question will be (if it is passed), is it constitutional? (which, I believe, will be challenged by the Attorney General of Florida, among others!)

Wouldn't you say that the past couple of election cycles have seen a similar rise of the far left in the Democratic party?

I wouldn't be too surprised if the conservatives keep pushing, especially as polls indicate that a "Tea Party" political party would be more popular than either the Republican or Democratic parties! (not to mention the fact that far more Americans consider themselves conservative than any other label- also substantiated by polls)

But you have already heard most of these arguments from me haven't you?

Saying Dede is right wing would be the equivalent of saying Lieberman is left-wing, clearly that isn't the case for either. You can say, "Dede, the former Republican candidate" but she truly was a Republican in name only (RINO) so much so that her positions would have probably made you proud.

This was an interesting bit, but I do want to challenge you on a couple of assertions.

1. Obama won the election by moving beyond divisive politics.

I cannot more sincerely disagree with that statement. First, make no mistake, Obama is a politician. He, like any other politician, is deeply immersed in the "divisive politics" that you clearly despise. Saying that "Americans need to rise above" doesn't count when Obama doesn't do it himself. Listen to his speeches on the Senate floor and look at his voting record there (97% of the time he voted Democrat (which was the highest for the 110th Congress.)I am sorry to be the one to break it to you, but Obama used party politics to get election and it is naive to think otherwise. In addition, let us not forget he won because he habitually bashed the Republican administration and the policies of Republican Party to get elected. Lastly, I find it outrageous to think that party politics will go away because one man, who is firmly entrenched in the system, "says" he wants it to. Let's get our heads out of the clouds and get serious.

2. We must start trusting government again.

I will trust government as much as you will trust a Fortune 500 company. When will Americans realize that government, because it is run by people, immediately assumes the evils and problems that people have. Government is not infallible, it is not with ego, it is not without envy, and it is not without hate. Government forcefully takes from one man and gives it to another. In any other circumstance, government would be thrown in jail for theft or blackmail. In addition, and this is the most striking characteristic, when government gets involved, things become even worse. The economic crisis was due to as much as government intervention as it was credit-default swaps. It is just that government has a nasty habit of making a terrible mess of things.
